ISO was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It works in 167 countries and has over 24,362 standards that cover nearly every sector, including manufacturing, construction, energy, healthcare, technology, security, and the environment. 

Businesses may pursue ISO certification for a number of reasons, including improved consistency and quality, customer satisfaction, and to comply with industry regulations. The ISO certification process involves implementing a quality management system (QMS), registering the QMS with an ISO certifying body, submitting documentation for review, and undergoing an on-site audit.
